Minds Eye Tattoo Design in Warwickshire is no ordinary, run of the mill place where you walk in, pick a template then leave with some ink that may already be on someone else’s body. No, the clue is in the word ‘Design’. You see, owner Stuart is a very talented artist who will literally create bespoke pieces from scratch. Freehand. Yes that’s right, freehand. As you can see in his studio there are no pre-drawn stencils on the walls, no gazillions of books to browse though. Instead there’s a few Ink Magazines to flick through while you wait with a cuppa & THEN the creative process begins.
When I was booked to do some commercial photography for Stuart, showcasing his artistic talent was something I wanted to convey with his images. I wanted to show him as a real craftsman & capture some documentary images – beginning with the first client consultation & then moving on to the design process & then finally the finish piece. There are loads of close-ups of tattoos online as everyone now has mobile phones to capture them instantly. This time around it was about showing the artist & business man at work…
