As a Top Birmingham Commercial Photographer I get commissioned from agencies and companies throughout the UK. The striking and creative Editorial Portraits on My Website attract new clients on a regular basis. London based Digital Content Agency ‘Born’ contacted me to work with them for The Big Issue, capturing Editorial Portraits for the ‘Vendor Stories’ section of the magazine.
A photography brief was sent over from Born outlining the types of images required, how they would be inserted on to the pages and what ‘format’ was preferred. The photographs would be used in both print for the actual magazine and also on the Big Issue Vendors website page. There was a tight deadline for production, so after re-arranging my diary to ensure that images could be captured and delivered on time I set off to Birmingham City Centre.
Working with Omar was an absolute pleasure. Being a Creative man himself he totally understood what I needed to capture as the commissioned photographer. A mixture of posed photographs, together with natural documentary or reportage style. Omar is a friendly vendor and very popular with both shoppers and workers in Birmingham. After starting the day purchasing his copies of The Big Issue magazine for £1.25 he then sells them at £2.50. I must admit this was something I hadn’t realised. Not only was I capturing some great Editorial photographs I was educating myself in the process. It was clear from the very beginning chatting with Omar what great work The Big Issue do and I felt very proud to be a photographer taking portraits for them.
